MHS welcomed students from Uniondale HS for an ongoing Girls Policy Network collaboration focused on developing solutions for areas within their communities they hope to improve.

We were proud to have Legislator Siela A. Bynoe and a representative from the office of Assemblywoman Taylor Darling present to help facilitate the student workshop and provide guidance as the students prepare their presentations. Assemblywoman Darling, who couldn’t be with us in person due to meetings in Albany, took a break from her state business to meet the students live over Facetime.

The issues that the teams of students are tackling include road safety in our communities, student union initiatives and equality in sports and academics in our schools.

The students are looking forward to their next meeting in February where they will work with renowned author and speaker Monique Couvson and then for a trip to Washington DC in March for a Voices4Equity event.
