The district is proud to announce that Nassau County District 18 Assemblywoman Taylor Darling has provided a grant of $250,000 which will be used to purchase new seating for the auditorium at Howard T. Herber Middle School.

Assemblywoman Darling made the announcement prior to a preview of the Malverne High School production of “Aida” that was performed in the auditorium for local senior citizens.

The seating upgrade is part of a full auditorium renovation that is slated to take place this summer and will be completed in time for the 2024/25 school year.

The Howard T. Herber Middle School auditorium is the heart of the Malverne arts and theatrical community with performances from all district schools taking place on the stage. With this makeover, Malverne will have a state-of-the-art facility to showcase the incredible wealth of talent that is being practiced and perfected in our schools every day.

Our 3rd graders have been learning about ecosystems and life cycles and as a final project they transformed the classrooms into different ecosystems to show off what they've learned.

Students took tours of each classroom exhibit and learned more about each ecosystem from the other student "experts."

It was a creative lesson and a great collaboration between classrooms.

DAV 4th graders welcomed author S.P. Brown for a discussion about her latest book Kyrie’s School Blues.

Ms. Brown's book addresses the power of reading and vocabulary building, confidence and self-esteem building, bullying, resilience and finding your voice.

After recently reading the book, our students were excited to discuss the character and themes presented in the story, as well as her writing inspirations and details about her craft.
