A select group of fourth-graders at Davison Avenue are chosen each year to head up the school’s Special Forces. These school leaders, who work under the direction of social worker Eileen Duffy, organize a host of community service and civic activities, including Red Ribbon Week. To exercise their civic duties, each year Special Forces members invite Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Hunderfund to visit to discuss issues that affect children in the district, offering thoughtful suggestions for improving their school. The district has adopted many of the ideas that past Special Forces agents have offered.
