The Senior High School’s Black Studies World Cultures Club presented the Black History Month Celebration, “Together We Rise,” through the district’s YouTube channel.

Club members and its liaison and coordinator Donna Bailey, who is also a high school counselor, coordinated the production for the livestream. The video featured a variety of performances from high school students and a performance from Howard T. Herber Middle School’s Harmony Club Dancers. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lorna Lewis and staff members also reflected on what Black History Month means to them.

In addition, Mr. Gilbert Bayonne, Esq., was the keynote speaker and shared his story on his journey to success. Mr. Bayonne is an attorney and founder of The Bayonne Firm in Harlem. He also played soccer professionally and attributes his passion for sports as his vehicle to his success.
