District Director of Special Education Mrs. Meredyth Martini inspired DAV school students with a read aloud of Chris Barton’s “What Do You Do with a Voice Like That? The Story of Extraordinary Congresswoman Barbara Jordan,” as a way to commemorate Black History Month.

Mrs. Martini shared Ms. Jordan’s story of perseverance, determination and her lifelong mission of fighting for social justice and equality. Through the DAV Black History Month Bookshelf, the students are learning about African Americans who have made an impact in the world while overcoming challenges.
