Twenty-four students from the eighth-grade Science Research Program at
Howard T. Herber competed at the Broadcom Masters Middle School
Competition at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair, commonly
known as LISEF. Ten projects from Herber were entered into the
competition, the maximum allowed. Out of 159 projects from middle
schools across the island, Malverne’s Elizabeth Cardenas and Madison
Jessen took second place with their project entitled “The Efficacy of
Different Super Glues.” This is the first time that students from Howard
T. Herber have placed second in the competition.
