Votes Are In

Third- through fifth-graders at Davison Avenue spent the week learning all about voting and this year’s presidential candidates. Following activities where they learned of the history of voting, how the electoral college worked, and the professional experience behind each of the candidates, students held their very own mock election. All students had to follow the standard format of registering to vote, lining up to check-in at the voting location, and then casting their secret ballot. Votes were cast using an app on the iPad and all students received an “I Voted” sticker at the end of the exercise. The lesson served to reinforce the importance of our right to vote, as well as allow students to take part in this year’s election. Keep an eye on Davison’s Twitter account on Tuesday, Nov. 8 to see the results of the mock election.
