As you may be aware, the Office of the Comptroller for the State of New York is required to periodically conduct an examination and report for each school district throughout New York State. Malverne School District’s Office of the Comptroller (OSC) audit  examined the District’s  fund balance for the time period of July 1, 2014-March 1, 2016. The results were just made available on July 8. We are pleased to share their full report with you here.

A testament to our strong financial position, auditors determined that administrators “effectively managed the district’s fund balance.” Combined with the district’s exemplary OSC Fiscal Stress Test score, bond ratings and other stellar audit results, these extensive examinations have resulted in no findings of any operational improprieties, fraud, waste or abuse. In an effort to further enhance the District’s use of fund balance, the report did offer three recommendations for Board of Education and administration consideration. Each of the recommendations are being taken under advisement for implementation during the 2016-17 school year.
