Malverne High School has formally announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2016 and would like to congratulate valedictorian Jesse Pace and salutatorian Ashley Akaeze on the honor.

Jesse Pace, former valedictorian of HTH Middle School, is currently vice president of the National Honor Society, captain of the varsity bowling team, and a member of the Pride of Malverne Marching Band, robotics team, musical production (lighting/set crew), Model UN, Mathletes, fusion band, Science Bowl, Coding Club and varsity boys soccer team. He is an AP Scholar with Honor and has received the Coach’s Award and the Captain’s Award for both bowling and soccer, as well as a medal for having the second-highest average in our bowling conference. Jesse is currently taking four AP courses and has accumulated approximately 36 college credits. He plans to major in biochemistry with a minor in business management while on a pre-medical track.

Ashley Akaeze is a member of the Book Club, Newspaper Club, Model UN, color guard, Peer Tutoring, musical production and school choir. She is also responsible for starting a creative writing club at the high school and is currently secretary of the National Honor Society. Ashley has been named an AP Scholar with Honor and an All-County musician, and received an honorable mention at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair last year. She won second prize in the Suburban Diversity High School Essay Contest and most recently was named a semifinalist in the National Amateur Poetry Contest. Ashley is taking five Advanced Placement courses this year and has already earned 18 potential college credits. Outside of school, she is secretary for the NAACP Youth Council and chairwoman of Civic Engagement Committee in the Youth Council of the Lakeview branch of the NAACP.
