For the first time in its history, Malverne  is hosting Camp Read-A-Lot for select third- through fifth-grade students of the district. This pilot summer program is designed to keep students connected to good books and to reinforce reading strategies that will help them become more successful as they move forward in their education. The program is run by three elementary teachers – Donna Classie, Amanda Correia and Marguerite Robles – and 10 high school mentors who have been trained in the literacy techniques. Camp Read-A-Lot was designed to incorporate music and fine arts, as well as integrate technology and the use of Smart Boards.
