New Assistant Superintendent

Rose Linda Ricca, former chairperson of math, science and technology for the district, was promoted to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Educational services at the Board of Education’s July 9 meeting. Mrs. Ricca will take her post effective July 15 and will replace current Deputy Superintendent Richard Banyon, who is set to retire by August 30.
Mrs. Ricca has been a longstanding member of Malverne, having begun her career in the district 26 years ago as a teacher of mathematics. Most recently, she has been responsible for writing all of the mathematics curricula for the new Common Core Learning Standards, as well as working on the committee with the teacher’s union to create and implement the new Annual Professional Performance Review. Respected in her field, Mrs. Ricca has been asked to present her teaching strategies at many local, state and national conferences.
