2020/2021 Budget & BOE Election Information - NEW BALLOT INFORMATION

This is updated information with regard to the annual budget vote and absentee ballot submission.

Please note that yesterday, June 7 , Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order to allow any absentee ballot for an election held on June 9, 2020 and received by mail in the office of the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board not later than June 16, 2020 to be canvassed for such election. No ballots for such election shall be accepted by the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board after 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 except those received by mail. The two designated drop boxes at Howard T. Herber Middle School, which have been used for hand delivery of absentee ballots, shall be closed and removed at 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020. Any ballots submitted after 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 must be mailed to the School District.

As a reminder, there are currently two drop boxes located at Howard T. Herber Middle School. The drop boxes are located at the front entrance and rear entrance of Howard T. Herber Middle School. The drop boxes will be accessible on Monday, June 8th from 8:00 A.M. 4:00 P.M. and Tuesday, June 9th from 8:00 A.M. 5:00 P.M.

As per State Executive Order the annual district budget election and trustee vote has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 9, 2020. The vote will take place via absentee ballot.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT

 

  1. Mark your ballot in pen having blue or black ink or with a pencil having black lead.
  2. To vote on the propositions/trustees fill in the bubble, mark an X or a ü (check mark) in the space provided.
    1.  To vote for a person whose name is not printed on the ballot, write the name in the blank space where indicated.

The whole ballot is void if the voter:

  • Encloses any paper or other article in the folded ballot or with the ballot in the envelope, or

    Makes any other mark or erasure on the ballot, and/or

    Defaces or tears the ballot.

  1. Insert the completed ballot in the envelope entitled “Election Materials Please Expedite” and seal the envelope.
  2. Clearly and neatly complete the front of the envelope [name and address], turn over, read the “Statement of Absentee Voter,” and sign and date the envelope in the spaces indicated.

THE BALLOT MUST BE SIGNED AND DATED OR THE BALLOT IS VOID.

  1. Insert the completed envelope in to the Business Reply Mail envelope marked “District Clerk” and seal the envelope.

 

This envelope may be:

  • a.)Hand-delivered to the District by leaving it in one of two drop boxes located at either the front and rear entrance of the Howard T. Herber Middle School. The drop boxes will be accessible between 8:00am – 4:00pm on Friday, June 5, 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday, June 8 and between 8:00am – 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 9.
  • b.)Put in the mail - in the prepaid postage stamped envelope accompanying your absentee ballot.

 

The ballot must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 for your ballot to be counted.

 

INSTRUCCIONES PARA ENVIAR UNA PAPELETA DE VOTANTE AUSENTE

 

  1. Marque su papeleta en pluma con tinta azul o negra o con un lápiz de plomo negro.
  2. Para votar por las proposiciones/fideicomisarios rellene el círculo, marque una X o un  ü (verificación) en el espacio proporcionado.
    1.  Para votar por una persona cuyo nombre no esté impreso en la boleta, escriba el nombre en el espacio en blanco donde se indique.

Toda la papeleta es nula si el votante:

  • Incluye cualquier papel u otro artículo, dentro de la papeleta doblada o junto a la papeleta en el sobre, o

•     Hace cualquier otra marca o borrado en la boleta electoral, y / o

•     Desfigura o rompe la papeleta.

  1. Inserte solamente la papeleta completa en el sobre titulado "Materiales electorales por favor acelere" y selle el sobre.
  2. Complete clara y limpiamente el frente del sobre [nombre y dirección], voltee, lea la "Declaración de Votante Ausente", y firme y feche el sobre en los espacios indicados.

LA PAPELETA DEBE SER FIRMADA Y FECHADA O SERÁ NULA.

  1. Inserte el sobre completado dentro del sobre del correo de remitente pre-pago marcado como "Secretario del Distrito" y selle el sobre.

 

Este sobre puede ser:

  • a.)Entregado a mano en el Distrito dejándolo en una de las dos cajas desplegables ubicadas en la entrada delantera y trasera de la Escuela Secundaria Howard T. Herber. Las cajas desplegables serán accesibles de 8:00am a 4:00pm el viernes, 5 de junio, 8:00am – 4:00pm lunes, 8 de junio y entre las 8:00am – 5:00pm el martes 9 de junio.
  • b.)Depositado en el correo - en el sobre sellado postal pre-pago que acompaña a su boleta de ausencia.

 

La boleta debe ser recibida en el Distrito a más tardar a las 5:00 p.m. del 9 de junio de 2020 para que su boleta sea contada.
